Eguavoen off to winning start with Sunshine Stars

Austin Eguavoen started his tenure at Sunshine Stars with a victory as they secured all three points in a 2-0 win versus Enugu Rangers.

Goals from  Ajibola Otegbeye and Alaba Adeniyi were all the hosts needed to silence the Flying Antelopes at the Akure Township Stadium.

The hosts – who have been in the relegation waters for most part of the first half have now climbed to safety – and are 14th on the long with 24 points from 19 outings.

However, defending champions Rangers  dropped to 19th position and must do something drastic when the league resumes else risk getting relegated.

In the other game of played on Sunday, Nasarawa United defeated Confederation Cup campaigners, Rivers United 1-0 courtesy Adama Hassan’s 17th minute goal.

While the Lafia based side climb to ninth on the NPFL log, the Pride of Rivers are 17th with 21 points from 18 games.
