Dreams FC accept AshGold’ s bid for coach Akunnor

The Miners' request for the services of the second-tier's manager has been accepted and he will lead the club until end of the season

Ghana Premier League side Ashanti Gold have had their request for C.K Akunnor as new head coach granted by Dreams FC.

The Miners are without a coach after former boss Bashir Hayford, who guided the team to clinch the league title two seasons ago, resigned from his role following series of uninspiring results.

They sit bottom of the log with eight points from eleven games and without a win in their last four games.

"Dreams FC wish to inform its fans and the general public of the board's decision to grant a request from Ashanti Gold for the services of manager Charles K. Akunnor," the club's statement read.

"The board took the decision on Monday following discussions with officials of the Premier League side who are making a request for technical assistance.

Charles Akunnor, a former Ghana captain will, now proceed to conclude talks towards taking over the vacant coaching job with the Miners - where he made his name on the local scene as an emerging star.

"Dreams FC wish to express its profound gratitude to Charles K. Akunnor for his loyal and valuable service to this football club. He will continue to occupy a special place in the history of this football club and will always be welcomed with open arms whenever he so wishes," the statement added.

Goal understand that Akunnor, who has been tasked with saving the club from the drop, will join his new outfit on Tuesday in Accra as they prepare to lock horns with Inter Allies in matchday 12 at the El Wak Sports Stadium.
