Exclusive: The Porcupine Warriors defender wants to win the Super Clash against the Phobians to show gratitude to supporters

Asante Kotoko defender Eric Donkor says they are fully prepared for the Super Clash against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The game, which was originally scheduled for July 16, was postponed after the Porcupine Warriors suffered a road accident at Nkawkaw on their way back to Kumasi from Accra, following a 1-0 defeat to Inter Allies. Equipment officer Thomas Obeng Asare was killed in the crash.

However, majority of the players have returned to training and Donkor wants to use the game to appease the supporters for their prayers during the difficult moments.

"We're in good shape for the game on Sunday against Hearts of Oak. Each player is physically, spiritually and mentally prepared to play the game except two midfielders," Donkor told Goal.

"Despite the accident that we suffered three weeks ago, we've began training and you can feel the high spirit in camp. Although, our coach Steve Polack is yet to hit full fitness, he has given his training schedules to the youth team coach Ernest Appau and everything have gone on well so far.

"We're battle ready and want to defeat Hearts to thank the supporters and well-wishers for the love, prayers and presents during the period. We want to give the supporters the bragging rights to show our gratitude. Also, we want to win the league trophy and FA Cup and the dream can only be achieved with a win over Hearts before we plan ahead of the next outstanding game against Wafa in Sogakope."

He added: "Hearts are in top form looking at their recent results but we aren't afraid. Big games are for big players and we have a lot of them to guide us to victory. The supporters must come in their numbers and chant throughout the 90 minutes and I promise them something good."

Hearts, who currently sit third on the log, defeated Kotoko 1-0 in the first leg and would be relishing to achieve a double for the first time in almost a decade.
