Dollah Salleh, head coach of Pahang, was in jubilant mood after his side trashed visitors Penang 6-1 in the latest round of Super League.
The Elephants bounced back from their 4-1 defeat to Kedah last week to give a serious warning to other teams on why they should be considered as one of the favourites to win the league this year.
Speaking after the game, Dollah said: “In the first half we can see that we played really well in the first 20 minutes.”
“But after we scored two goals, we were a bit complacent, and Penang got one back during that time.”
“However, I told my players if we scored the third goal, we can go on and win the game and we can see that we scored six in the end.”
Despite the victory, Dollah quick to urge his players not to be complacent in their upcoming games in the league.
Pahang will face Melaka United next and Dollah wants his team to continue their winning momentum when they face the Premier League champions.
“Dont take this victory as a guaranteed success for our upcoming games. This will definitely boost our confidence and I believe with this win, I hope we can continue this winning momentum when we face Melaka United next,” added Dollah.
Goals from Mahamadou Sumareh, Wan Zaharulnizam, Joseph Kalang Tie, Matheus Alves and a late brace from Ashari Samsudin gave Pahang a solid three points, while Nigel Abingyaba scored the consolation goal for Pulau Pinang.
The win means Pahang remain second in the league behind Kedah, who also recorded a win and collected three points by defeating Kelantan.
