Amid controversy and discord off the pitch, Barcelona play their second match of the season on Saturday at the ground where they enjoyed their biggest away win in the previous campaign.
It has been a difficult summer for the Catalans and this weekend the club could do with something approaching a repeat of the 6-0 victory they recorded over Deportivo Alaves at the Estadio Mendizorroza back in February.
On Sunday evening, the Blaugrana's opening league match saw them comfortably beat Real Betis 2-0 and the margin of victory could have been considerably greater had Lionel Messi not hit the woodwork three times.
The Argentine was without doubt the fulcrum of Barca's attacking play and with Luis Suarez still missing, Messi will be expected to direct proceedings once more. Alaves, of course, are the last side to have won a La Liga game at the Camp Nou, although their team is much changed since their shock 2-1 victory last September.
Only four members of the starting XI from that night remain at the club, with a new manager at the helm as well, and Luis Zebeldia's men looked extremely lacklustre in their season opener at Leganes where they went down 1-0.
Given Barcelona's encouraging performance in their first league match of the season, Ernesto Valverde will hope that his side can continue to improve and the price of 109/100 (2.09) for them to score over 2.5 goals appeals.
Having lost key players all over the pitch as well as their manager, Alaves look likely to struggle badly in the forthcoming campaign. Barcelona's away form against the lowest sides in the division last season was impressive.
The Catalans scored at least three goals against six of the bottom eight sides in the 2016-17 campaign and with Alaves likely to be among the division's strugglers, expect Barca to once more rack up the goals.
