Following a narrow win against Abubakar Bala's side in Umuahia, the Uchendo Warriors' trainer says his side's secured a hard-fought victory

Abia Warriors head coach Abdullahi Biffo has admitted that his side 1-0 triumph against Niger Tornadoes in a 1-0 win at the Umuahia Township Stadium was not an easy feat.

Anthony Okemmiri’s solitary effort was all the Uchendo Warriors needed to overcome Abubakar Bala’s men to end their three straight losing streak on Wednesday.

And the handler disclosed that determination and players dedication inspired their return to winning ways, vowing they will maintain the momentum in upcoming games.

“I’m so happy we won. The victory will go a long way to help us recover our confident,” Biffo told Goal.

“Knowing fully well that we have not won any of our last three games and that put our boys to play under unnecessary pressure. With the victory, we have regained our missing confidence.

“Playing against a team that knows you well something is never easy. But I must commend Niger Tornadoes they really gave a good account of themselves.

“Defeating them was not easy. If not because we know them fully well it will have turned out a different outcome. I must thank my players for playing to instructions and the fans for their support.

“Everyone knew we deserved the victory because my players fought hard as a team with great determination from the beginning to the end. I also appreciate the management for standing by us.

“We hope to keep building on the confident we have gained from the victory. We will continue to give everyone in the team a level-playing ground since we have over 30 registered players.

“Everyone on the squad has a role to play and we will need to maintain the tempo and team spirit.”

Abia Warriors are 10th on the log with 14 points from 11 games and will face Ifeanyi Ubah next in Nnewi on Sunday.
