De Gea tight-lipped on Madrid links but is 'happy' at Man Utd

David de Gea has refused to discuss links with a potential move to Real Madrid, insisting he is "very happy" at Manchester United but that in the future "nobody knows".

The Spain international was on the verge of moving back to La Liga in 2015, when a transfer broke down at the last minute.

Reports, however, suggest that Madrid will redouble efforts to sign De Gea in the coming summer window, although it is a move that would be resisted by those in charge at Old Trafford.

When quizzed about the subject, the shot-stopper was ambivalent about the chances of a second stint in the Spanish capital.

"The future nobody knows," De Gea told AS. "The future is the future. I'm very happy here, it's a great club. In England, football is enjoyed a lot."

When pressed over whether he would consider a move to Madrid, he added: "I'm not going to talk about that.

"I will not talk about that subject any more. I just have to keep focused on my club."

De Gea preferred to speak about United's chances in 2016-17, where they face an uphill task to reach runaway Premier League leaders Chelsea.

“I think we're in good form. We’re on a 15-match unbeaten run in the league and we’ve won the last two matches [in the FA Cup against Wigan and the Premier League versus Leicester]," he said.

"The team’s doing well, we must continue down this route to get into the top four as soon as possible.

Wenger: My future is at stake

"Chelsea? The truth is that they’re doing really well. I think they’re nine points ahead of second place and they have the title in their hands.

"We are all going to fight to get as close as possible but they are very well placed."
