The Potters frontman reached a milestone of 50 headed goals in the English top flight with his second-half strike for Stoke City against Southampton

Peter Crouch became the first player to score 50 headed goals in the Premier League on Sunday after netting against Southampton.

Crouch broke the deadlock at St Mary's against his former club with a trademark goal to hand Stoke City the lead on the hour mark.

Geoff Cameron whipped in a superb cross and Crouch rose magnificently at the far post to plant his header past Fraser Forster and into the far corner.

The Potters hung on to win 1-0, Crouch ending the campaign with six league goals in total.

Despite turning 36-years-old, Crouch revealed earlier this week that he does not intend to retire any time soon and is taking inspirating from Stoke boss Mark Hughes' playing career.

“The first thing to go as a player is pace, but it is fair to say I never had a great deal of that so my game has never revolved around it," Crouch told reporters.

"I have other attributes and I don’t think those other attributes are waning any time soon. I am not going to lose what I bring to the table.

“I know I can play at this level for a number of years. The thought of not doing it every day does worry me, to be honest. It is that fear that has made me so hungry this season. When you become older you appreciate it more, you appreciate just how good what we do for a living is.

“Mark Hughes played until he was nearly 40 at a decent level and I think I can do the same."
