Copa Coca-Cola Kano Wrap: Katsina seal National finals berth

Aminu Zainu’s boys stayed unbeaten in the championship to earn a ticket for the national finals billed for Lagos

Government Junior College, Katsina cruised to a 2-0 win over Sambo Secondary School on Saturday to earn a play in the Copa Coca-Cola National finals.

A goal in each half by Ismail Nuhu and Aminu Salisu were all Aminu Zainu’s side needed to halt the aspirations of the Zamfara based school, who came into the game unbeaten – and fancied their chances of playing in Lagos.

The result was not as comfortable as it should have been given Sambo School’s domination, but never made their dominance count as they were let down by horrendous defending.

Adamu Magi School defeated Nagari College 1-0 in a game that counted for nothing at the Kano Capital School.

Jibri Abba’s second half effort handed the Dutse based school their second victory of the competition and bowed out with heads raised high.

Jigawa’s Ado Gambo lashed over from 18 yards seven minutes into the first half and Nagari College appeared increasingly edge as the half time break approached – Muhmmed Zakari’s tame sidefoot at goalkeeper Abdulahi Yusuf who was lacking conviction.

However, Kebbi’s hopes of securing their first point were in tatters  with 15 minutes left to play as Abba’s missile sailed past Bashir Garba.

Sambo Secondary School, Zamfara crashed out of Copa Coca-Cola on  a low-key afte failing to break down GSSS, Sokoto.

Isaiah Wariata missed the home side's best opportunities, firing off-target from close range in either half, the story of a match that saw his side rack up seven shots but only test Abdullahi Yusuf awith one of them.
