Actions got underway at the Abuja regional finals on Tuesday as the boys from Kaduna and Benue shared the spoils in a four-goal thriller

Benue 2-2 Kaduna

Mbagwa Community Secondary School, Lessel of Benue State were held to a 2-2 draw by Christ Comprehensive College, Kakuri of Kaduna State in the Abuja regional opener on Tuesday.

A goal in each half helped the Kaduna boys came twice from behind to avoid defeat against their opposite from Benue at the Government Secondary School, Jabi field.

The Lessel based boys started the encounter brightly with Agbe Gabriel firing them in front in the second minute but goal gave the Kakuri side level five minute later.

In the second half, Mbagwa reclaimed their narrow lead thanks to IkyernumNgutor's tap in from close range but Christopher Boniface rescued Christ College from the spot.

 

Kano 1-0 Niger

Government Secondary School, Gwale of Kano State secured a winning start defeating Ndayako Day Secondary School, Bida of Niger State 1-0 on Tuesday.

Auwalu Muhammed's solitary strike handed the Kano boys the crucial three points to subdue the Niger boys at Government Secondary School, Jabi.

The Kano side faced many troublesfrom the Niger boys' attack in the opening 15 minutes but quickly got their legs on the pedals moments later to snatch a vital lead through Muhammed.

The lead's celebration was almost cut short when the Ndayako side forced the Kano goalkeeper to an impressive save from the edge of the box but saw no breakthrough.

On return from recess, the Gwale based boys made numerous attempts on goal but their efforts failed to yield result as the Kano side held on seal victory.

With Kaduna and Benue earlier playing out a 2-2 draw, the victory puts GSS, Gwale on top of the Abuja regional log, while Ndayako boys from Niger are bottom of the standing.
