Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez will miss Bayer Leverkusen's match against Hamburg on Friday after picking up a groin injury.
The Mexico international was injured during last weekend's 3-2 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach, and Leverkusen announced Wednesday he will not be available this weekend.
"A slight groin injury rules the Mexican striker out of Bayer 04 Leverkusen's away fixture at Hamburg SV on Friday night," the statement posted on the club's website said.
There is no further word on when Hernandez may return to action.
Hernandez finally ended his goal drought in the loss Gladbach, scoring in the first half to give his team an early two-goal lead. However, the local rivals rallied back with three second-half goals.
The striker had gone 783 minutes of Bundesliga action without a goal before scoring on a header.
After a prolific 2015-16 campaign, Hernandez started off 2016-17 strong but cooled off considerably as fall turned to winter. Overall, Hernandez now has eight goals in all competitions.
Leverkusen currently sit ninth in the Bundesliga. The German club face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 on Feb. 21.
