Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez insists he does not need a hypnotist to help rediscover his form in front of goal.

The former Manchester United forward struck 26 goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga club last season but is now without a goal in 14 outings and has been linked with a move away from the BayArena in the winter transfer window.

Tigres and France striker Andre Gignac experienced a similar drought, failing to find the net in 862 minutes of play, but re-opened his account in Liga-MX following a session with hypnotist John Milton.

And while Milton has offered Hernandez a helping hand to help change his fortune in front of goal, the Mexico international believes he will rekindle his form on his own.

"I don't need any hypnotist to be what I am," Hernandez said in an exclusive interview with ESPN Mexico.

"It is sad. It is something that has to be changed in the Mexican mentality. I'm never going to call out somebody to gain fame. I've never needed a hypnotist. I know that sooner or later the goals will come," he said.

Hernandez's drought now stretches over 100 days and despite receiving criticism for his uninspiring goal tally this term, Hernandez is more than happy with his overall displays for Bayer Leverkusen.

Ronaldo ‘shocked’ by Owen fat joke

"I'm fine, I'm relaxed. I don't play this sport to score goals, but to play football, to play World Cups and Champions [League].

"There are days when you put [the ball] in with your eyes closed. [But] there are more positive moments than negative ones in my career."

Hernandez's five strikes in the German top flight lead the goalscoring charts at Rodger Schmidt's side, who are currently in the United States at the Florida Cup, preparing for the second half of the Bundesliga season.
