The struggling Teessiders will need to pull off a shock and have a major say in the title race in order to keep their hopes of survival alive

Middlesbrough may need to have a major say in the Premier League title race by getting a result against Chelsea to keep their hopes of survival alive on Monday night.

Steve Agnew's team must win at Stamford Bridge to avoid relegation if Hull City, who have won six and drawn one of their past seven home games, beat bottom-of-the-table Sunderland at the KC Stadium on Saturday.

Kante & Luiz are Chelsea doubts

Chelsea, of course, are looking to take another step towards sealing the league championship by winning a match they will be expected to triumph in comfortably.

GAME PREVIEW

Antonio Conte Chelsea Premier League

It is hard to see Chelsea slipping up here - and extending Middlesbrough's stay in the top flight - unless injuries have a severe impact on Antonio Conte's plans.

There are not many players of greater importance to the Blues than David Luiz and N'Golo Kante, and if they are ruled out it will be interesting to see how the league leaders react.

While their absence would undoubtedly hurt Chelsea over the longer term, though, it is difficult to imagine the likes of Nathan Ake and Cesc Fabregas struggling to cope as their likely replacements in this particular match against the Premier League's 19th-place side.

That is reflected in the huge odds available to back Middlesbrough to win this game - rarely is one Premier League team as long as 22/1 to beat another.

Boro have won just one of their 17 away games so far this season, scoring 10 goals. Anything but a Blues win - and another step towards the title - will represent the shock of the season.
