Chelsea target Arp to stay at Hamburg

Hamburg have ruled out the chances of Chelsea signing Germany youth international Jann-Fiete Arp, claiming the striker is staying with the Bundesliga side.

Following a fantastic European Under-17 Championships where he scored two hat-tricks, the 17-year-old found himself on the radar of Wolfsburg as well as the Premier League champions.

Arp has yet to play a competitive game for Hamburg's senior side, but scored 28 times in 25 games for Hamburg's underage sides last season. President Heribert Bruchhagen ruled out the possibility of a transfer as he wants to keep one of the club's top young talents at the Volksparkstadion.

"He will stay with us. His advisor Jürgen Milewski has promised me and sporting director Jens Todt," Bruchhagen told Bild. "He will develop with us."

The teenager models himself on Tottenham striker Harry Kane, and travelled with the Hamburg senior side to Dubai during the off-season, playing in a friendly clash with al-Nasr.

Arp's current contract only runs until the summer of 2018, but manager Markus Gisdol is looking to tie him down to a more permanent deal with Die Rothosen.

"It is no secret, he is a great talent, and we must keep him with us," Gisdol said. "He can be a great player."
