Abraham netted 26 times for the Championship club during a productive spell away from Stamford Bridge.

It is expected that he will go in search of more regular game time this summer, with the likes of Newcastle and Brighton reported to be keen, and Hegeler is convinced the 19-year-old can handle a top-flight challenge.

He told Goal: "Tammy Abraham has brutal potential, his requirements are exceptional.

“I don't know the German youth national teams so well but spontaneously no German player at this age comes to my mind who has similar potential.

"He is a very cheerful, funny guy with a healthy dose of self-confidence. I think that's normal for a 19-year-old guy who scored more than 20 goals last season.

"You have to consider that he still played at junior level only one year ago and then scores so many goals in his first season with first team football.

“Until now his development went very well. I am excited to see what he's going to do next season. I guess he will go on loan to a Premier League club."

Abraham has already graced the Premier League with Chelsea, having been handed two appearances by Guus Hiddink in May 2016.

He has, however, developed a lot since then and will be looking for another loan spell to present him with an opportunity to prove that he can shine among the elite, be that with the Blues or somewhere else.
