The Citizens' boss is waiting on McCarthy's decision to decide whether or not he wants to sign Modise

Teko Modise parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns last week, and since then, speculation has been rife regarding his future.

While reports suggest that the 33-year-old has been offered to several clubs in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) including Bidvest Wits, Cape Town City remain interested.

Nevertheless, despite the Citizens apparent interest in Modise, there has been no formal approach.

John Comitis said whether or not City will look to sign the former Orlando Pirates star, is entirely in the hands of their new coach Benedict McCarthy.

McCarthy has only recently taken over the reins at City and is yet to give an assessment of the players at his disposal.

“There are a number of players that Benni has not worked with before and he needs two weeks to train with the players. He will let us know which players he needs,” Comitis told Isolezwe.

“If he wants to sign Teko Modise, we will support him by having him at the club. For now, he hasn’t said anything about signing him,” Comitis concluded.
