Modise looks to make the most of the opportunity presented to him by the Citizens following his surprise move to the Mother City

Cape Town City midfielder Teko Modise is unperturbed by the challenges that lie ahead as he prepares to begin a new life in the Western Cape.

“It’s one thing I needed to set my mind to, because I knew that I faced challenges in terms of the weather, how far I am because I’m so used to Joburg. I was born there, but then if you are scared of fear you won’t actually reach your goals,” Modise told SABC Sport.

Modise joined City on a free transfer transfer after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season.

“For me, it is an opportunity that I’m grateful for and I’m grateful for the chairman for giving me the opportunity to come and play for his team,” Modise said.

Having beared the brunt of many supporters from time to time, Modise is happy with his latest venture and he aims to make it count under Benni McCarthy.

“I feel fresh now, I’m happy and smiling more. I’m enjoying football; that is one thing I always emphasize. I don’t want to retire bitter and feel like football has done nothing for me,” Modise said.

“I know so many legends that retired and are still angry. I don’t want to be angry because I still want to play football. I still want to put more into the game and invest more into the game," he continued.

“But by doing so, I need to be happy and I feel like this (move to Cape Town City) is an opportunity for me to be happy and do the best that I can on the pitch,” Modise concluded.
