First-half goals by Pius Buswita and Hassan Kessy gave Yanga a narrow 2-1 victory against Ndanda FC at the Nangwanda Stadium, Mtwara.

The Jangwani side are five points behind leaders Simba SC, while Ndanda FC remain winless in four matches, and are three points clear from the relegation zone.

Yanga took the lead through Buswita in the sixth minute and Kessy doubled Yanga’s advantage 23 minutes later. With only one minute after the restart Nassor Kapama got a goal back for hosts.

Yanga midfielder Pappy Tshishimbi missed a penalty as the visitors increased pressure towards the hosts goal throughout first half.

Ndanda’s Mrisho Ngassa was among the standout player especially in the second half but Yanga stood firm to grab all the three points.
