Denis Bonaventure scored to help Club Brugge to a 2-1 victory over Gent in a Belgian First Division A fixture on Sunday at Jan Breydel Stadium.

The forward opened the scoring in the 16th minute after connecting with Ruud Vormer’s pass to mark his eighth goal of the season.

Yuya Kubo restored parity for his side in the 23rd minute and Dion Cools scored the match-winning goal with 19 minutes left to play.

The Nigerian was substituted in the 75th minutes for Malian, Abdoulaye Diaby.

Ivan Leko’s men are on the top spot on the log with 24 points and will hope to continue their dominance when they travel to Versluys Arena to keep a date with Oostende on October 15.
