Zimbabwe v Tunisia Betting: AFCON progress on the line in direct showdown

Having looked the more consistent side so far, Al Hain-Cole is backing the Eagles of Carthage to progress to the AFCON knockouts with victory

Both Tunisia and Zimbabwe will be hoping to secure a place in the Africa Cup of Nations knockout stages when they come face-to-face in their final group game on Monday.

Second in the group with three points to their name, Henryk Kasperczak’s men are 17/20 (1.85) favourites with Betway to progress to the next round by coming out on top at the Stade d'Angondje.

Victory would also be enough for Zimbabwe to qualify should Algeria fail to beat first-placed Senegal in the other Group B clash, and they are priced at 16/5 (4.20) to keep their hopes alive with a win.

A draw would also be enough for Tunisia to take their place in the quarter-finals, and you can get odds of 5/2 (3.50) on this one finishing up all square.

Taking part in their first AFCON in over a decade, Kalisto Pasuwa’s side will have been feeling rather confident of their ability to compete at this level after opening with a 2-2 draw against a star-studded Algerian team that many had tipped for the title.

However, the following game against Senegal served as something of a reality check for the team from southern Africa, who were outclassed in a defeat that could have been much heavier than the eventual 2-0 scoreline.

In contrast, the 2004 champions were unfortunate to suffer the same 2-0 losing margin when they took on Senegal in their first match, and looked impressive in seeing off North African rivals Algeria in the subsequent fixture.

Now in pole position for the second qualification spot, the more experienced Tunisians look like a strong bet at 17/20 (1.85) to demonstrate their quality once again when they take on an inconsistent Zimbabwean outfit who will be forced to leave themselves exposed at the back in search of victory.
