Watford play host to West Ham United in what promises to be a thrilling tussle from the Premier League on Saturday evening.
There have been no fewer than 10 goals in the previous two meetings between these sides and, with both teams in decent form ahead of this renewal, there is plenty of potential for another absorbing contest at Vicarage Road.
Walter Mazzarri’s men were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United last time out, but that was a first defeat in five league fixtures for the Hornets and Watford, who have lost just two of their last 11 matches on home turf, will be determined to get their bid to finish in the top half of the Premier League table back on track by taking three points from this tie.
The home side are Paddy Power’s 6/4 (2.50) favourites to come out on top in this one, while the visitors can be backed at 9/5 (2.80) to claim a vital victory; the odds compilers offer 23/10 (3.30) that the match ends in stalemate.
West Ham did not have their troubles to seek earlier this season, but Slaven Bilic’s side appear to have steadied the ship in recent weeks, losing just one of their last five Premier League matches.
Central to that upturn in fortunes has been the ability to put the ball in the net, for West Ham have scored 11 goals in their last five fixtures, while the Hammers have hit three or more goals in each of their last four league wins.
West Ham’s progress, however, is in danger of being undermined by defensive deficiencies; Bilic’s side have kept a clean sheet in just one of their 15 matches away from London Stadium so far this season and, if those problems persist in this match, Mazzarri’s men are certainly capable of taking advantage.
Watford have found the net in all but two of their last 16 Premier League matches at Vicarage Road – a run that stretches back to last season – and the Hornets will feel that they are capable of causing problems for a West Ham side that have struggled to shut out their opponents on their travels thus far this term.
Paddy Power go 4/6 (1.67) that both teams score, but better value lies in backing at least three goals to be scored at even money (2.0); there have been more than three goals scored in six of West Ham’s last eight fixtures away from home, while each of the Hammers’ last six matches has seen, at least, three goals scored; furthermore, there have been more than two goals scored in three of Watford's last four league games.
Punters, therefore, are advised to snap up Paddy Power’s generous even money (2.0) quote for more than two goals to be scored when Watford host West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
