Deportivo Alaves v Alcorcon Betting: Hosts heavy favourites to reach semis

With the hosts leading 2-0 from the first leg, we are backing them to claim another victory and with it a place in the semi finals of the Copa del Rey

Before his side's first ever Copa del Rey quarter-final last week, Alcorcon coach Julio Velazquez insisted that the team's campaign in the Segunda Division was their aboslute priority.

Following a 2-0 defeat at home in the first leg of this historic quarter-final against Alaves, it is hard to see the Alcorcon boss giving much significance to the second, given that the tie looks practically over.

The only second-tier team left in the competition, Alcorcon's away form has been one of the reasons why the team from Madrid are looking over their shoulders, perilously close to the relegation zone.

Alaves Alcorcon

Saturday saw Los Alfareros record their first away win of the season (their first league win away from home in eight months) with a 1-0 success at Huesca, and Velazquez will surely be thinking that this weekend's visit of leaders Levante is more important than the cup game at Alaves.

The hosts in Tuesday's match, meanwhile, are on a decent run, having lost just one of their last 12 matches, and they will feel extremely confident of finishing the job at what should be a packed Estadio Mendizorroza, where the fans will be expecting to see Los Babazorros make it through to the semis for the first time since 2004.

Betfair offer a home win at a tempting 9/10 (1.90), while Alcorcon can be backed at 16/5 (4.20) and the draw is priced at 23/10 (3.30), but the smart money really has to go on Alaves.

As mentioned, Alcorcon have an extremely poor record on the road, with no team in Spain's Segunda Division scoring fewer than their four away goals from 12 games this season.

This game is not a priority for the visitors, while for Alaves, who looked to be safe in mid-table in La Liga, they can really go for it and enjoy the occasion.

The price of 9/10 (1.90) for a decent top-flight side at home to a struggling second-tier outfit would look good any day, but in the context of this tie, it seems unmissable.
