Liverpool vs Chelsea
25 November 2017
Kickoff 19:30 (CAT)
With Liverpool and Chelsea’s midweek trips to Europe done and dusted, the Premier League pair’s focus now shifts to claiming points at home in the race for the top four. Liverpool contrived to throw away a three-goal lead in Seville on Tuesday night to draw 3-3; Chelsea coasted to a 4-0 win in Azerbaijan against Qarabag but Antonio Conte’s men will be sporting some tired legs. Liverpool cannot afford to defend like they did against Sevilla again, especially considering that Chelsea are hitting their straps and have won their last four Premier League matches and conceded only two goals in the process. Liverpool themselves are in excellent domestic form winning three on the spin. They must now put the midweek disappointment behind them back at fortress Anfield, an in-form and rejuvenated Philippe Coutinho will certainly help.
The hosts have no new injury concerns but will give a late fitness test to Cameroonian centre back Joel Matip. Chelsea also have a relatively clean bill of health, with Michy Batshuayi the only first team player missing.
Defending champions Chelsea can’t afford to lose much more ground in the title race. A win away to one of the big clubs would be the perfect way to continue their excellent recent form and carry momentum into the Christmas period.
