In a shootout littered with fine finishes and shameful strikes, relive the drama from Bordeaux on Saturday night as Germany reached the Euro 2016 semi-finals

Germany are through to the Euro 2016 semi-finals after beating Italy in a competitive game for the first time... and they did it via one of the most entertaining penalty shootouts you are ever likely to see.

Each team failed to score three of their opening five spot-kicks, with Italy's Simone Zaza bizarre run-up and miss trumping Graziano Pelle's Diana Ross impression in a host of fails.

Usually so dependable, Germany's form from 12 yards almost completely deserted them yet they still reach the final four after Gianluigi Buffon failed to keep out Jonas Hector's effort. Here's how Twitter took in the action.
