The Kosovan forward etched his name into the annals of Australian football history with a milestone goal

Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha made history by becoming the first ever player to reach 100 A-League goals.

The latest transfer rumours

The landmark strike came in Victory's clash with Central Coast Mariners at AAMI Park on Friday as Berisha hit the decisive goal of the game on the 80th minute to keep his side on course for second place.

The 31-year-old Kosovo attacker, who scored his first A-League goal at Allianz Stadium against Sydney FC in 2011, now boasts an incredible 100 goals in 155 games.

Berisha had been waiting a while for the century, having failed to find the net in two games since the March 11 encounter with Perth Glory.

His milestone goal sees him strengthen his position at the top of the scorers chart with 19 goals in 25 games as he chases another Golden Boot.

Berisha previously won the accolade in 2011-12 when he scored 19 goals (21 including finals goals), which was a career best.
