Ulinzi Stars will miss the services of midfielder Kevin Amwayi when they play away in Awendo this weekend.

Amwayi, who is making a comeback to the soldiers's squad after eight months out, has lost a brother and will not be available for selection against Sony Sugar on Sunday.

“Our midfielder Kevin Amwayi lost a brother and will not be with us when we travel to Awendo; in the spirit of brotherhood that we've always had, let's stand with him in prayer at this hard time,” the club confirmed on their website.

Amwayi attracted praise from head coach Dunstan Nyaudo for his performance in pre-season as well as in the opening game, which Ulinzi Stars won 4-2 against Zoo Kericho.

A second half sub in the game against Zoo FC, Amwayi played a key role in the fourth goal, picking a pass from Oliver Ruto and exchanging return passes with Daniel Waweru before the latter crossed for Masita Masuta to score.
