Ben Arfa wants contract to be cancelled to escape PSG nightmare

The attacker’s future at the club looks to be in doubt as he and his representatives look for an exit which will free him up to choose his future

Hatem Ben Arfa has been left behind by Paris Saint-Germain for their summer tour of the United States, leaving the attacker’s future with the club in serious doubt.

Ben Arfa, who arrived from holiday in good shape and participated in PSG’s opening friendly of the pre-season against Paris FC, was left surprised by the decision

Ben Arfa’s representatives met with PSG sporting director Antero Henrique last month to resolve the player’s situation. At the time, Henrique said he rated Ben Arfa, but conceded it would be difficult for him to receive playing time and, as a result, it would be best for the player to find a new club.

Representatives for Ben Arfa indicated that, with one year remaining on his deal, he intended to see out his contract with the Parisians.

However, Goal understands Ben Arfa would be willing to depart on one condition — the club buys out the remaining portion of his deal so that he is free to choose his next destination.

Since the transfer window opened, only Fenerbahce have shown any urgency in trying to sign Ben Arfa by offering a three-year contract but making no bid to PSG.

Yet, with Ben Arfa remaining at Camp des Loges while his team-mates are in Miami, his situation could change rapidly.
