The South African senior national team target Panagiotis Retsos has been linked with a move to German club Bayer Leverkusen.

The highly-rated teenage defender is one of the two South African-born players, who have been targeted by Bafana Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter.

The English tactician used his recent European trip to make contact with Retsos and Juventus defender Joel Untersee, who were both born in Johannesburg.

Untersee, who is a Swiss youth international, has been loaned to Italian club Empoli FC by Italy's powerhouse Juventus.

Retsos is currently on the books of reigning Greek Super League champions Olympiacos.

On Tuesday, Retsos helped his side qualify for the 2017/18 Uefa Champions League group stage after defeating Croatian club Rijeka in the play-offs.

According to German publication Express, Leverkusen are closing in on the 19-year-old, who had a great 2016/17 season in the Greek Super League.

The Bundesliga side are said to have made a €15 million bid for the current Greek youth international which is likely to be accepted by Olympiacos.

Retsos has also been linked with a whole host of clubs including English giants Arsenal, Spanish club Atletico Madrid as well as Juventus.

He made 18 appearances last season as Olympiacos clinched the Greek Super League title.
