Bashir credits Dogo for El Kanemi win

The Solid Miners’ striker has praised the monetary gift and the encouraging words of their coach which paved the way for their win.

Nasarawa United’s forward, Abdulrahman Bashir has disclosed that the monetary motivation from the Deputy Governor, Silas Agara played a major role in their renewed zeal to beat El Kanemi Warriors to the maximum points in their mid week league tie in Lafia.

The Solid Miners defeated Sunshine Stars last weekend in Ijebu Ode and there insinuations before the tie that the team could crumble just like the Owena Whales who were beaten at home barely few days after their surprise win against ABS in Ilorin but Bashir noted that the special gift from the Deputy Governor and the admonition from their head coach, Kabiru Dogo that they must remain focused inspired them to the victory over the Borno Army.

“The objective was to beat El Kanemi Warriors and right from after our last game we knew we must do everything possible to beat them. The Deputy Governor’s monetary gift and the encouraging words of our coach helped us a lot to remain focused. We were very relaxed even after they reduced the goal arrears,” Bashir told Goal.

Adamu Hassan double in the 5th and 26th minutes set the Lafia side on the path of victory but Hashimu Haliru’s strike for the Borno Army in the 53rd minute ensured a nail biting end to the league tie.

Nasarawa United improved to eighth on the league table with 44 points from 30 games and they will travel to Uyo for a date with Akwa United this weekend.
