The Morocco forward scored twice for the Les Canaris on Saturday as they moved up to eighth in the French top flight

Morocco international Yacine Bammou netted the maiden brace of his career in Nantes’ 2-0 win at Caen in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

Deputising in the absence of in-form Burkinabe forward Prejuce Nakoulma - who has scored back-to-back braces - due to suspension, Bammou grabbed his chance with both hands and gave Sergio Conceicao something to think about with a first-half brace.

Having raced into a cross from the right, Bammou finished calmly for his first in the 27th minute and, less than ten minutes later, the striker made it two after beating Damien da Silva to Leo Dubois' cross to head powerfully past Remy Vercoutre, taking his tally for the campaign up to four.

Perhaps these are the kind of displays that could see the Paris-born forward return to the Atlas Lions’ setup after a two-year absence.

He was called up again eight months later for the 2018 World Cup Qualification matches but that would be his last call-up.

Herve Renard's outfit are next in action again next month in a friendly against the Netherlands and, with performances like this, surely Bammou will throw his name in the hat for consideration.

Cote d’Ivoire duo Koffi Djidji of Nantes and Ismael Diomande of Caen were also in action as the Brittany side moved up to eighth.
