Bala unhappy with Niger Tornadoes goalscoring problems

Niger Tornadoes head coach Abubakar Bala is unimpressed with his forwards’ profligacy following their 1-1 home draw against Katsina United on Sunday.

Nasiru Isah had fired the Changi boys from the spot in the first half before Ifeanyi Okoye found an equaliser in the other half at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.

After their second home draw, Bala insists they would have won the encounter if his wasteful strikers converted their begging scoring chances.

“In Africa, goal scoring is always a problem,” Bala told Goal.

“Where the problem does come from? It is from the judgment of the players.

“When they have opportunities to create chances, they don't know what do to do at the right time.

“When they are supposed to play the ball, they will shoot and when they ought to shoot they play the ball. That's our only problem.

“We will keep working hard to improve. We are a work in progress. This is just a new team and we need time to blend together.”

Bala will be eager to see his strikers step up their form when they face newcomers Remo Stars on Wednesday in Sagamu.
