Cioaba: Azam need FA cup title to play in CAF competitions

Azam FC head coach Aristica Cioaba has conceded that the Federation Cup is their only realistic chance to win silverware this season and they have to take the competition seriously.

Azam are currently third in the premier league behind both Simba and Yanga respectively but have qualified for the quarter finals of the Federation Cup were they will face Mtibwa Sugar.

The Ice Cream Makers need to win the FA cup as the competition presents their only realistic opportunity to win silverware this season and get a chance to feature in CAF tournaments next season.

Speaking to Goal, Cioaba said that they need to be in the CAF competition next season and they can only achieve that by winning the FA cup.

“We are in the Ligi Kuu race but it’s a long shot, our chance to play in CAF tournaments next season can be obtained by winning this seasons FA cup so we have to deal with Mtibwa Sugar well,” said Cioaba.
