Andile Jali scored his first goal of the season for KV Oostende in the 3-1 win over Genk to secure their place in next season's Uefa Europa League on Wednesday, and therefore signing off for international duty in style.
Jali is expected to arrive in the country on Friday before linking up with his Bafana Bafana temmates ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria scheduled for 10 June in Uyo.
The strike was the 27-year-old’s first of the campaign in 17 appearances in all competitions, after making a dramatic turnaround when it seemed he was destined for the exit door having struggled to break into the side in the early parts of the Belgian top tier’s current campaign.
For his goal, after Knowledge Musona’s initial effort hit the woodwork, the ball fell to the feet of Frank Berrier, who laid it off for Nigerian attacker Joseph Akpala to cross, and Jali then snuck in at the near post, adding to Akapala and David Rozehnal’s first half strikes.
It remains to be seen however, if Jali will still be with Yves Vanderhaeghe’s men for their maiden European appearance late in July with reports linking the midfielder with a move away from De Kustboys.
Tanzanian attacker Mbwana Samatta also featured for Genk but he was unable to find the back of the net.
