Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has described his side's display in his 1,000th game as a head coach as "perfect".

Carlo Ancelotti has lauded Bayern Munich's 8-0 thrashing of Hamburg as "perfect" after the Italian marked his 1,000th game as a head coach in style.

Robert Lewandowski scored his third hat-trick of the season as Bayern remained five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, with Arturo Vidal, David Alaba, Kingsley Coman (two) and Arjen Robben also getting on the scoresheet.

And Ancelotti, who has now won 591 of his games as a head coach, acknowledged that even he was left astounded by the quality on show at the Allianz Arena.

Tuchel always had faith in Auba

"It was a perfect day, a perfect game," he told Bayern's official website.

"We played well with a good attitude. I told my players before the game to make my anniversary a good game.

"I did not expect it to work so well! I am very happy and wish for the next game the same setting and the same spirit."

Bayern Munich celebrates Hamburg

Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler was making his 250th Bundesliga appearance but it was a landmark match the veteran shot-stopper will hope to forget.

"We were not in the game from the first minute, we did not have any fight in the first half," he said.

"We were outplayed by Bayern. The way they beat us does not only hurt, it's unbearable."
