Former player Boniface Ambani rules out Ingwe among title contenders and tips the team to finish this season in top eight

AFC Leopards started the season well, but lost it somewhere along the way and are currently placed in the 12th position in Kenyan Premier League.

On Sunday, they lost Super Cup final to rivals Gor Mahia by 3-0; a second time Ingwe has lost the derby by that margin. Former international striker Boniface Ambani now says that the best Ingwe can do this season is finish in the top eight bracket. "I am not a pessimist but honestly they cannot win the league, not this season, not with the current crop of players.

"Most of them are just average players, who cannot do anything special for the team. The best Ingwe can finish is in the top eight, I do not expect anything better than that. The team should go into the market, sign good and quality players, not for the sake of signing but bring players who can improve the team.

"That is the only way, even the defense is shaky and needs serious adjusment."

Ingwe is currently under new coach Dorian Marin after Stewart Hall's departure.
