Alex Iwobi lauds Emiliano Martinez heroics

Alex Iwobi has congratulated teammate Emiliano Martinez for an eye-catching performance in their 3-2 penalty shootout victory over Bayern Munich.

The Nigeria international erased Robert Lewandowski's opener before scoring the winning kick for his side after scores stood at 1-1 at full time.

Aside his performance, Argentina's Martinez put up an awe-inspiring in goal for Arsene Wenger's men, and the Super Eagles star was quick to acknowledge his heroics.

“We all know he’s capable of doing that,” Iwobi told club website.

“In training, he’s very sharp and light on his toes. I’d also like to big him up and say a big congratulation to him as well.”

The Nigerian also spoke on his goal which took the game to penalty shootout.

“I was able to break forward with the ball, give it to Aaron and then he was able to find me with a great pass,'' he continued.

''Lucky for me, I headed it in and we were able to win it on penalties. I’m just grateful for that.

“It was a good finish. We pulled it out in the end and it was nice to win the cup.”
