Omeruo scores own goal in Alanyaspor’s defeat

The Nigeria defender conceded an own goal as his side surrendered a two-goal lead to bow at home in the Turkish topflight

Kenneth Omeruo scored an own goal as Alanyaspor bowed 3-2 Fenerbahce in a Turkey Suger Lig encounter on Friday.

Safet Sušić’s men surrendered two first half goals to bow to the Yellow Canaries without Emmanuel Emenike at Alanya Oba Stadium.

A freekick deep into Alanyaspor box hit the onrushing 23-year-old to put the ball past goalkeeper Haydar Yilmaz.

Junior Fernandez had given the hosts a second minute lead while Vagner Love doubled it 13 minutes later.

The Nigeria international’s howler propelled the visitors to comeback in the encounter to claim maximum points.

This defeat demotes Alanyaspor to the 15th position with 25 points from 24 matches.

It would be recalled that Omeruo scored an awkward own goal that cancelled out Alanyaspor’s lead in their 4-3 home victory over Gaziantepspor in November 2016.
