The striker has been released by his club following an uninspiring performance in the Caf Champions League

Ghanaian striker Abednego Tetteh has had his two-year contract terminated by Sudanese giants Al Hilal, barely six months after arriving.

The 24-year-old striker enjoyed a perfect start to his campaign in the North African country, netting 10 goals in the local league and cup games. However, he failed to replicate that form in the Caf Champions League, going five games without hitting back of the net, as Hilal sit bottom of Group A and almost out of the competition with one game left.

A club statement read: "Striker Abednego Tetteh is no longer Al Hilal player. The contract he signed, which was expected to run until 2019 has been terminated with immediate effect.

"The club will like to thank him for his services within this period and wish him all the best in his career without us. He will receive everything he is entitled to according to the contract we signed with him," the statement added.

Goal understands that Hilal head coach Nabil Kouki has also been sacked due to the club's poor performance. However, former Ghana Premier League best player and goal king Augustine Okrah and Nigerian midfielder Azeez Shabowale remain with the club as the only foreigners.

Asante Kotoko defender Abeiku Ainoonson, who is currently on loan at Ashanti Gold, Kennedy Ashia and Ivorian player Cheikh Moukoro had their contracts cancelled in a similar manner when Al Hilal failed to reach the group stage of the Caf Champions League.
