The Nigeria U-23 star was forced off in the Red Devils’ slim victory over their South African counterpart

Junior Ajayi has been confirmed injured after he was hauled off in Al Ahly’s 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits in a Caf Champions League encounter on Saturday.

The striker started the round of 32 fixture for the eight-time African champions which was settled by a 58th-minute header from Egypt international defender Ahmed Hezagy.

But in the 63rd minute, he was replaced by Walid Soliman due to a knock he picked and a statement from the club website has now identified it as a muscle strain.

"Ajayi suffers from a muscle strain after sustaining a knock during the 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits in the first leg of the CAF Champions League round of 32 on Saturday," read a statement on the club's website.

Al Ahly now face the possibility of not having the former SC Sfaxien and skipper Hossam Ghaly - also confirmed to be out as a result of ‘muscle fatigue’ - as they seek to defend their lead against the PSL high-flyers in the return leg in Johannesburg on March 17.
