Peter Bosz hailed Borussia Dortmund as one of the top-10 biggest clubs in the world after being presented as their new head coach on Tuesday.

The 53-year-old has signed a two-year deal at Signal Iduna Park which sees him succeed Thomas Tuchel at the helm.

Dortmund finished third in the 2016-17 season and won the DFB-Pokal, while Bosz had to settle for a runner-up spot in the Eredivisie and Europa League with Ajax.

He is now relishing the prospect of leading Dortmund, whose fans have a reputation for generating an excellent atmosphere.

"Dortmund are one of the 10 biggest clubs in the world," he said. "I'm looking forward to the legendary 'Yellow Wall'.

"I was convinced this was the right step for me when I spoke to CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke and sporting director Michael Zorc. I felt we could work well together.

"I've watched the Bundesliga since I was young as I lived near the border. I was lucky enough to play here too [for Hansa Rostock].

"In my opinion, the Bundesliga is one of the best competitions in the world and I can't wait."

Reflecting on his one season in charge at Ajax, which ended with a 2-0 loss to Manchester United in the Stockholm final, Bosz added: "A lot has been written in Holland about what happened. But now, only BVB counts, not what's in the past. I'm looking forward.

"I'm also sorry I'm leaving Ajax. Talented players and great lads, we worked well together. So it hurts, but that's football."

Bosz also offered a jovial response when quizzed on whether young Danish prospect Kasper Dolberg, who impressed for Ajax last season, would be following him to Germany.

"Yes we're signing him tomorrow," he laughed. "No, we're not discussing transfers today."
