AFC Leopards issue fresh demands as SportPesa eye return

AFC Leopards have tabled fresh demands to SportPesa after the company confirmed their intentions to return as shirt sponsors.

Goal can exclusively reveal that the betting firm has started renegotiating afresh with Ingwe, just one month after they withdrew sponsorship.

A top Ingwe official, who did not want to be named, as confirmed to Goal that SportPesa are willing to return as shirt sponsors but under previous terms.

However, the club is not keen to take back the offer as they have issued a fresh notice to the company to increase the contract by Sh15million to help cater for their increasing demands this season.

“SportPesa are now willing to return. We have held several meetings with them but as it stands, we will not be in a position to take the previous deal. We want the company to increase the budget by Sh15m.”

The source added, “We are not worried at all because even if they turn down our request, we have another betting company that is very willing to give us sponsorship that meets our demands and that is the most important thing.

"Plus the company (SportPesa) makes a lot of money from betting and we are one of their biggest clients. Our worth has to be known.”
