Here is the recap from Day 2 in the 2017 AFC Futsal Championship which is currently taking place in Ho Chi Minh City.
GROUP B: Al Rayyan (QAT) 2-1 Vamos FC (IDN)
Al Rayyan secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Indonesia’s Vamos FC in their Group B opener in the AFC Futsal Club Championship Vietnam 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.
Despite being the first futsal club to represent Indonesia alongside Asia’s elite, Vamos FC displayed confidence well beyond expectations, as they took the game to the Qataris. Thus, it took Al Rayyan a nervy seven minutes to finally break the deadlock with the opener scored by Brazilian import Diego Costa (8’).
Failing to equalize the score in the first half, the Southeast Asian side came out storming in the second half in search of the very first goal. In a match of near misses, it was Vamos FC’s turn to come close only for Bambang Bayu Saptaji’s goal (39’). Unfortunately for the Indonesian side, Diego Costa (40’) clinched a last-gasp winner with 32.8 seconds left on the clock to end Vamos FC’s hopes.
GROUP D: Bank of Beirut (LIB) 0-9 Chonburi Blue Wave (THA)
Five-goal machine Jirawat Sornwichian helped Chonburi Bluewave secure an emphatic 9-0 victory over Bank of Beirut FC in the AFC Futsal Club Championship Vietnam 2017 Group D opener on Friday.
The Thai side quickly established control to create the game’s first chances. As a result, they took the lead with the early opener scored by Jirawat (7’). Chonburi Bluewave then made the most of their numerical advantage, adding to their lead with the deadly duo of Jirawat (9’, 19’) and Suphawut (16’, 17’) in the first half. Bank of Beirut then tried to save the game by reducing to four men in a power-play tactic but their efforts were dropped in vain.
Turning to the second half, things were about to get worst for the Lebanon side, with Jirawat scoring his fourth goal for Chonburi (26’) before Jetsada Chudech (31’) and Peerapat Kaewwilai (34’) adding the seventh & eighth for the Thai side. Without giving the Lebanese side a moment of reprieve, Jirawat then capped off his fifth and final of the match (36’) with a simple finish from close range.
GROUP B: Naft Al-Wasat (IRQ) 7-2 Disi Invest (TJK)
Five-goal hero Ghodrat Bahadori lifted Nafit Al Wasat to a 7-2 victory over Disi Invest to take top spot in Group B of the AFC Futsal Club Championship Vietnam 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.
Playing as the competition's top seeded team, much was expected of the Iraqi side, but it was their lesser known opponents, Disi Invest, who began the game brighter. However, thanks to the right approaching with pressing tactic, the 2016 finalists easily took the lead with a “poker” by Bahadori (5’, 7’, 17’, 18’). The only goal for the Tajikistan side before half time was scored by Halimov Shavqat (5’).
The restart saw Nafit continue their dominance, extending their lead with 2 more goals by Faisal Abed (31’) and Bahadori (33’) before Captain Jonatan shortened the distance to 6-2 but that was also the final goal of the night from Disi Invest. Rafid Hameed (37’) scored the winner to secure a 7-2 victory for Naft Al-Wasat.
Sitting comfortably on top of Group B, Nafit Al-Wasat will play Vamos FC in their next match on Sunday. DISI Invest will play on the same day against Al-Rayyan who narrowly defeated Vamos FC in the earlier tie.
