The Sri Lankan side's three foreigners would land in Kolkata hours ahead of the crucial AFC Cup qualifying game against Mohun Bagan...

The Indian High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka provided a major u-turn to the fortunes of Colombo FC's second leg  2017 AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Cup's South Zone Preliminary Stage encounter against Mohun Bagan by granting visas to all three foreign players.

After being denied visas for India altogether, Ivorian Seka Jean 'Momas' Yapo was issued his travel documents earlier on Monday. Now, Nigerian duo Nasiru Opeyemi and Afeez Olayemi Olofin also have been granted visas late on the eve of the match.

The trio along with club owner Saif Yusoof are expected to land at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata around 11 am - merely eight hours before kick-off. They will board a flight at 3 am (IST) and will have a short layover in Bengaluru before reaching the West Bengal capital.

While speaking to premier Lankan sports website thePapare.com, Colombo FC owner Saif Yusoof sounded quite ecstatic. "They just gave me everyone’s visas! We will be leaving only tomorrow (the day of the match) and will land only a few hours before the match", he was quoted saying.

Head coach Mohamed Roomy will breathe a sigh of relief and welcome the news with open arms. However, he will have to take care of his players and make sure he does not put anyone of them at risk given the long travel.

"I will have to test their (three foreigners) fitness before the match given that they will be arriving only a few hours before the match", he said while speaking to the same media outlet.

In more exciting news for the Yellow Submarines, club captain Mohamed Rawme Mohideen passed a fitness test late at night and will see himself slot into midfield after recuperating from an injury which kept him out of the first leg in Colombo.

The match starts at 7 p.m. IST (GMT +5:30) at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata.
