The Ogya Boys pipped Wafa to go four points clear on top of the log with three games left to end the season

Aduana Stars defeated Wafa 1-0 in the Ghana Premier League top of the table clash in matchday 27 at Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro on Wednesday.

A second-half strike from Derrick Sasraku gave the homesters a crucial win which could hand them a second title as they now sit four points clear of their visitors.

Aduana boss Yusif Abubakar kept faith in young goalkeeper Gordon Yeboah for his heroics as a substitute in their last game against Hearts of Oak, while Wafa missed the services of several key players after selling them to clubs in Europe few weeks back.

The hosts were the first to threaten Wafa's goal by the fourth minute through Nathaniel Asamoah but the former Asante Kotoko striker's shot was off target. After sitting back for the opening ten minutes, the visitors came out of their shell and Ibrahim Fofana saw his effort float wide by the 13 minutes.

Sam Adam combined with Noah Martey but his powerful shot from almost 25 yards out missed the target.

Aduana later had their first real opportunity to take the lead on 30th minute.

Midfielder Zakaria Mumuni connected a pass from Elvis Opoku but the former saw his last ditch effort blocked by onrushing goalkeeper Ayi and the resulting corner-kick was wasted.

Seven minutes later, Wafa were also handed a golden opportunity to punish their hosts against the run of play, but Prince Obeng Ampem's first touch was heavy and although, he forced to lob the ball past goalkeeper Gordon Yeboah, it lacked direction.

After the break, Wafa had another fine opportunity to take the lead by the 48th minute. Francis Boateng was played through by Gideon Waja but the midfielder failed to set up Ampem for a simple tap in as his cross was too powerful.

However, Sesraku punished Wafa five minutes later through a long throw in from Rashid Alhassan. The striker rose above Caleb Amankwaa and directed his header on target beyond goalkeeper Richmond Ayi for the opener.

Wafa responded by bringing on Musah Nuhu for Akunnor while Tanko Mohammed also replaced Asamoah for the hosts.

Aduana resorted to long balls and time wasting to frustrate the visitors but substitute Kingsley Opoku latched onto a pass from his teammate on 82nd minute and managed to enter Aduana's box but his effort was saved by Yeboah.

Aduana drew men back to protect their lone- goal lead and although Wafa had a couple of decent chances very late in game, they couldn't let it count as the hosts held on to claim victory.

Aduana have now moved to 51 points, four points ahead of Wafa and will travel to Tamale to play relegated Bolga All Stars while Wafa hosts Wa All Stars at the Red Bull Academy.
