Fanendo Adi's brace downs LA Galaxy in final pre-season game

The Super Eagles forward has signalled his readiness for the new MLS season after netting a brace in the Timbers' last pre-season game

Portland TImbers completed their pre-season friendly games with a 2-1 win over LA Galaxy courtesy of a Fanendo Adi brace in both halves.

The Nigeria international who was the Timbers top scorer last season with 16 league goals, wasted little time getting off the mark on Saturday, by hammering a shot past LA's Brian Rowe in the 29th minute.

Adi combined well with Valeri again in the 57th minute to slot home and give Caleb Porter's men a two-goal lead before Daniel Steres grabbed a consolation goal for LA with nine minutes left to play.

Portland Timbers managed just a defeat in six tone up games during the pre season training tour and will welcome Minnesota United FC to the Providence Park on Friday for their first fixture in the 2017 MLS season.
