Adelaide's Holland set for CSL move

The Socceroos midfielder may have played his last game for the Reds, while Adelaide's new hero Mark Ochieng was thrilled with his impact against City

After helping Adelaide United to a superb win over Melbourne City on Thursday, Reds midfielder James Holland is set for a move to the Chinese Super League.

While Holland - the man-of-the-match in Adelaide's 2-1 win - was non-committal when asked about a possible transfer after the game, coach Guillermo Amor effectively confirmed the news at his post-match press conference.

Holland, 27, only joined Adelaide in September, signing a two-year contract.

"Yes, he goes tomorrow or after tomorrow," Amor said.

"The market is open now and this possibility is open and he goes to China.

"I don't know if he signed or not signed in this moment, but I know that he goes."

Holland impressed in the centre of the park as Adelaide claimed just their second win of the campaign, with the Socceroos midfielder launching the decisive counterattack for Mark Ochieng's winning goal.

A lofted pass forward by Holland was volleyed centrally by Sergi Guardiola and Ochieng burst onto the ball, taking a touch and then firing his shot into the top corner to secure the three points with his maiden A-League goal.

The 20-year-old, who normally plays as a right-back, was almost speechless afterwards.

"I don't know, the ball was just in front of me and I was just happy to get on it," he told Fox Sports.

"My first touch was good and after that the finish just came out of nowhere.

"But I'll take it. I'll take it… it's an unbelievable experience playing in front of the fans and I was happy to get a few minutes and I was happy with the goal."

The win took Adelaide off the bottom of the A-League table - at least temporarily - with the reigning champions rising to ninth on 10 points, just ahead of Central Coast Mariners on goal difference.
