The Togo international is due to move to the Turkish Super Lig club on transfer deadline day having been photographed wearing the club's jersey

Former Arsenal and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is set to complete his move to Istanbul Basaksehir after undergoing a medical with the club.

The Togo international has been without a club since leaving Crystal Palace in June 2016, and is due to sign an 18-month contract with the Turkish Super Lig side.

Adebayor has been pictured undergoing his medical at Basaksehir's Medipol hospital, while photographs of him wearing the club's jersey have also emerged on Twitter.

Adebayor had been in talks to sign for Lyon, but the move reportedly fell through due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations with Togo.

“They said that? That’s nonsense," Adebayor told L'Equipe when asked about the claim.

“They knew I was going to play. If they start looking for such excuses, they will kill themselves. I’m the captain of my country, so how could I not go? What if a Frenchman refused to play in the Euros?”
