The 23-year-old talks about his decision to join Tianjin Teda amid interest from across Europe

Ghana international Frank Acheampong has shed light on his recent move to Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Teda.

The Anderlecht winger sealed a move to the Tigers on Thursday, penning a six-month loan deal.

“I am happy with the new move and the new experience that will come with it,” Acheampong told Ghana Soccer Net.

“Football is always a risky profession and you must always take risk to learn from it.

“Deals like this do not often happen but with my perseverance, hard work and the help of God, we are here today.

“It is a short deal, so there is not much to talked about but like I said, you always have to take some risks and put yourself in a situation to be with other people and learn their culture."

Acheampong's move came as a surprise to many, as, amidst his personal desire to play in England, he was heavily linked to a host of teams in the Premier League.

West Ham and Newcastle United were among his reported suitors.

“The English clubs were there but nothing was concrete but the people here [in China] were serious and the offer was good," Acheampong explained.

“My club had a good deal and I am also okay with my part which will make my family happy and secure my future.

“I'm grateful to God for the deal and I hope to make a great impact here. And with God on my side, I will make it happen."

After leaving Ghana, Acheampong played for Thai side Buriram United before joining Anderlecht in 2013.
