AC Milan v Borussia Dortmund Betting: Big-spending Rossoneri out to impress from the off

The Serie A side have bought extensively this summer and we think they look good value to claim a win against their Bundesliga opponents

Few teams across Europe have had a more productive or eye-catching summer transfer window so far than AC Milan.

The Rossoneri have strengthened their squad in almost every position, with full-backs, centre-backs, midifielders and forwards all purchased and Vincenzo Montella will feel he now has a squad at the very least capable of qualifying for the Champions League.

The seven-time continental champions last competed in Europe's premier club competition in the 2013-14 season, and their serious outlay in the transfer market means the pressure is on Montella and his squad to deliver.

Leonardo Bonucci's signing has been the most high profile, but Milan have also brought in Portuguese striker Andre Silva and attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu as well as tying Gianluigi Donnarumma - arguably the best goalkeeping prospect in world football - to a new contract.

The future therefore looks bright for Milan, and Montella's project will be in for their first serious test when they face Borussia Dortmund in the International Champions Cup on Tuesday.

The Germans have so far held on to their major stars although Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could yet leave for the Premier League, and hitherto this summer Dortmund have failed to impress in pre-season.

With a strong side fielded, they lost to fourth division side Rot-Weiss Essen in their first friendly before salvaging a late 3-2 win after trailing against Japanese outfit Urawa Reds.

bet365 make the Bundesliga side favorites for Tuesday's clash in Guangzhou pricing them at 6/5 (2.20) while Milan can be backed at 2/1 (3.00) and the draw is offered at 13/5 (3.60).

The temptation is to back a win for the Serie A side, given not only their exciting new faces but also the price offered which looks generous and will likely attract plenty of punters.

Playing it a little safer, however, could be a wiser option given that this is a pre-season friendly and the price of 5/4 (2.25) for AC Milan Draw No Bet is well worthy of consideration.
