Football and rumours go hand in hand and we've got you covered with all the news and whispers swirling around this week in Australia.
Sydney FC's Claudio Marchisio enquiry
After missing out on Fernando Torres, Sydney FC admitted they didn't have all their eggs in one basket with a number of other marquees being looked at.
One of them appears to be Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio, with Goal understanding that the Sky Blues have asked for information about the 32-year-old, whose future in Italy looks in doubt.
Marchisio has spent his entire career in Turin, aside from a brief loan spell with Empoli, but the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have made him expendable with strong interest in him coming from China, Japan and Saudi Arabia.
The Italian international is however not convinced about moving all the way to Australia and also appears intent on staying with Juventus if a recent social media post is anything to go by.
Sydney FC have experienced marquee success in the past with former Juventus players, having lured Alessandro Del Piero Down Under back in 2012.
Mile Jedinak set for Aston Villa exit
Socceroos skipper Mile Jedinak's future with Aston Villa appears in doubt with the Championship club needing to significantly reduce their wage bill.
According to reports in the UK, Jedinak has already agreed to terms with another European club.
On an estimated weekly salary of $50,000, the 33-year-old appears surplus to requirements for Villa, who just missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season.
Jedinak started all three group games at the World Cup for Australia and scored two goals.
The midfielder has previously played in Australia, Croatia and Turkey as well a long stint with Crystal Palace.
Leroy George nearing Sydney FC switch
After making headlines this week for his comments on the A-League and Melbourne Victory, Leroy George is nearing a move to Sydney FC.
The World Game reports that the Sky Blues are confident of securing the Dutch winger after offering George more money than Victory and a multi-year deal.
Melbourne City and Western Sydney Wanderers were also keen on signing the attacker but it now appears Sydney FC are in pole position.
George scored nine goals last season and contributed a league-high 14 assists as Victory finished the regular season fourth before winning the A-League grand-final.
Mitch Nichols in talks with Wellington Phoenix
Current free agent Mitch Nichols could join the Wellington Phoenix next week with Mark Rudan set to decide whether to add the midfielder to his squad.
The Covert Agent revealed that Nichols is in contention to join the side after a turbulent year which saw him abruptly depart Perth Glory and Indonesian side Persela Lamongan.
Phoenix are still short on numbers with new coach Rudan taking his time to make additions to a squad that only just avoided the wooden spoon last season.
Nichols, 29, has made five appearances for the Socceroos and should he join Wellington, it would be the fifth A-League side he has played for.
